“Using detailed assessment, manual techniques and personalised exercise prescription to provide effective injury rehabilitation”
"Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability. It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work." (Society of Sports Therapists)
Sports Therapy focuses highly on the individual’s lifestyle, including profession, fitness levels, hobbies, posture and general lifestyle. This is done by a comprehensive, initial assessment which will include a full postural and physical assessment to fully understand where the root of the pain is coming from.
This is then followed by a personally tailored treatment which may include relevant sports massage and mobilisation techniques, stretching, taping and a full rehabilitation programme tailored for your individual requirements.
What to Expect:
Initial Consultation: Includes medical and injury history, postural and physical assessment, as well as clarifying goals and targets of the treatment.
Treatment: Could include a range of massage and mobilisation techniques, temperature and cupping therapy, as well as strapping and taping.
Rehabilitation: Your therapist will tailor a specific, personalised rehabilitation programme to target injured areas and prevent re-injury in the future, all while aiming to get you pain free and reaching your targets.
